Springboard's KickStart programme is your first step towards a vibrant career in hospitality. The three week programme will give you the training and skills you need to enter the industry, including a two week placement with a business in your area.
Heres our KickStart success stories from Caitlin and Thomas:
Caitlin Pollock aged 16 from Broughton Hall Catholic High School
I wanted to try the KickStart Programme to help me get a job over the summer. I enjoyed the induction and training week, especially the food safety training. It was amazing to go into the Radisson Blu in Liverpool and meet the Executive Head Chef, and get involved in a pasta making workshop. I really enjoyed the work placement at the Days Inn Hotel and keeping busy. I’ve got involved in everything from washing up, preparation and cooking breakfasts. The team are really looking after me.
Ronald George, General Manager of the Days Inn Hotel:
Caitlin has been a true star, her work ethics are great and she doesn’t shy away from any hard work, absolutely reliable. My team are a great fan of her. I will be exploring the option of offering her weekend work. Would like to offer Caitlin a part-time job for when she starts college in September. Caitlin was offered a part-time job and was unsure but after reflection, decided to take the job alongside studying at Knowsley College for three days a week.
Thomas Matin, aged 16 from Wellacre Academy
I wanted to get some work experience and improve my chef skills before starting at college in September.
I really enjoyed the induction and training week, especially the health and safety training.
I have learnt a lot on my work placement at the Principal Hotel, from preparation of dishes, learning new recipes, baking, cooking and plating up courses for conferences. I worked two evenings events in addition and really enjoyed the experience.
Paul Beckley, Executive Head Chef of the Principal Hotel:
Tom has been absolutely brilliant and has offered to work additional hours and get the experience of working on big conferences and evening functions. Would like to offer Tom a part-time position on a casual basis.
Tom was offered and accepted a part-time job on a casual basis to start September when he starts at Trafford College.
