Delaware North - Inspire

Over 4,500 hours of work experience given to the future generation of our industry across our sites and from different routes including Epping Forest College, Ark Elvin Academy and Havering, Brunel and Oxford Brookes Universities.

We have received great feedback from students who have participated in work experience around our business which has ranged from 1 week to a full year for some.
Lydia Staniforth has been a HR Intern at our Head Officer joining us in June 2018 she managed to work across our business and has earned her reward by securing a permanent position with us in the Recruitment Team as a Recruitment Assistant.

We asked Lydia for her highlight during her Internship:

"I started my graduate career with Delaware North in July 2018, as an HR Intern based at the head office. The past 5 months has been a wonderful experience in terms of acquiring new skills and knowledge relating to the hospitality industry. One of the most memorable highlights for me, was being involved in an industry-leading Safeguarding Project, for one of our clients, the Emirates Stadium. It was an honour to be part of this ground-breaking venture to ensure all staff at Emirates had a completed background check before the start of the football season in August. It was highly rewarding to assist current and new employees of Delaware North through the background checking process and then meeting the employees at the staffing desk when they arrived at the stadium for the first match of the season.

"Another continuous highlight of my internship is visiting Wembley Stadium, including the tour of the venue during my Delaware North showcase (See photos below). Having attended football matches and concerts at Wembley in the past, it was an honour to get the player’s perspective from walking out of the changing rooms and onto the pitch. I also enjoyed shouting the cliché, but necessary “HELLO WEMBLEY” to an empty stadium and hearing the voices echo through the entire seating area.
The concluding and “fitting”, highlight to my internship was being offered the role of as the Recruitment Assistant at our head office. I am a few weeks into my new job and can already see my skillset and knowledge base developing. I am thoroughly enjoying my new responsibilities and being in direct contact with our newly recruited employees. It is a privilege to assist our candidates through the on-boarding process!"
