You serve drinks of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety, snacks and light meals to resident and non-resident guests; as well as tend to their luggage and small errands

Job Summary

  • Welcoming guests and showing them to a suitable table or sitting area
  • Serving drinks and food
  • Taking payment (or having the bill signed by residents)
  • Setting up and clearing for service,
  • Directing guests to the hotel's other facilities
  • You might also help in the bar or restaurant areas, with room service, banqueting, and reception.
  • Helping carry luggage to guests' rooms
  • Cleaning the public and staff areas (including regular checks on toilets)
  • Reporting maintenance needs
  • Receiving and unpacking deliveries of stock,
  • Advising guests of security or fire procedures

Skills required

  • Customer service Experience
  • Carry out practical hands on work
  • Need to have a friendly, outgoing personality
  • Using your own initiative
  • Work with food and/or drink

Qualifications and Training

You don’t need any particular qualifications or training to begin your career as a Lounge Service Assistant. However, if you tend to progress further you may want to consider various food preparation and food hygiene certificate and qualifications.

Salary Expectations

A Lounge Service Assistant can expect to earn between £16,000 and £20,000 a year
