Head Porter Head Porter

Head Porters have all the same duties as a standard Porter has; however, first and foremost, they are a supervisor. They hire and train Porters, assign tasks and organise schedules.

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the team of Porters, Doormen and Pageboys
  • Interview, hire and train new Porters
  • Responsible for staff rotas, supervision, budgets, cost control, etc
  • Guests may come to you with queries for directions, tickets to the theatre, opera or concert, sports events, restaurant reservations, car hire, airline and train tickets etc
  • Attempt to resolve guest complaints
  • Attend regular meetings with reception, reservations, banqueting, and housekeeping

Skills required

  • Discretion
  • Experience as a Porter or in a role that’s similar

Qualifications and Training

No qualifications are necessary for this role. But previous Porter or customer-facing experience will be highly beneficial. Most people tend to work their way up to this position after working as a Porter

Salary Expectations

A Head Porter earns on average £18,000 – shift allowance, overtime and tips add to this amount
