What programme where you involved in with Springboard 2 and a half years ago?

I was involved with an employability programme where I completed a two week work placement at Premier Inn Southwark Borough Market and my second week at PI Southwark Tate Modern. The work placement was fantastic as I was able to work in all departments and understand the Premier Inn Brand. After that I applied for a front of house role at Premier Inn London Waterloo, in which I did my trial shift in breakfast.

How long were you working at Premier Inn?

I started working for Premier Inn in May 2013. So it has been almost two and a half years.

Was it hard finding a job before going on the Springboard programme?

It was hard to find a job that related to my degree and a job that will be a long term career for myself. My advisor at the job centre showed me a Springboard post which caught my eye and that was Premier Inn hotels. I knew that taking up this opportunity was just the start to my career.

What have you been doing up until now?

Since the Springboard programme I have pushed myself to aim higher in the hospitality industry.I have come extremely far in my career with Premier Inn. I worked at Premier Inn London Waterloo as a front of house team member. I was the first crossed trained team member at the hotel. After 1 year I was promoted to a team leader which is now known as a PI host. In December 2015, I applied for the 1 year Operations Graduate scheme which is a fast track step to being a manager in Operations. The graduate scheme was absolutely amazing, challenging but worth it. Whatever you put in you get out of it. I received endless amounts of coaching, training and support throughout the year and, there were alot of Whitbread courses involved which enabled me to broaden the skills and knowledge I had before joining the scheme. I took on my first site as an Operations Manager role in February 2015. This was the same site in which I completed my Springboard work placement Premier Inn Southwark Borough Market. My journey still continues with Premier Inn as an Assistant Operations Manager at Premier London Tower Bridge.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the Springboard programme especially Rachel Neuer, it has changed my life and mindset in terms of my career path and what I have achieved so far. I will continue to share my story with people who are passionate about working in the hospitality industry. My advice for you is "follow your dreams and be open to opportunities that knock on your door". This opportunity changed my life completely".
