Placement: Greenkeeping Apprentice, Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club
Apprenticeship: NVQ Level 2 Golf & Greenkeeping (24 months)
College: Myerscough College
My experience of the apprenticeship scheme was a positive one. I acquired key skills to carry out my job to the highest of standards, whilst giving me greater knowledge and understanding of the Sportsturf industry as a whole.
Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club helped my development by giving me the time and resources to broaden my knowledge not only professionally but personally. The apprenticeship was a success due to Marriott giving me access to the highest level of training and equipment needed to progress in my role. This experience has given me greater confidence to embark on a career journey in my chosen industry which I absolutely love.
I recently passed my Level 2 Golf & Greenkeeping Apprenticeship with a merit; this qualification gave me the confidence to apply for the position of Senior Greenkeeper at Marriott Hanbury Manor. This will be my first supervisory position and I am excited to learn what leadership means and the skills required to further my career in the direction of one day becoming a Director of Golf.
After being successful with my application, I am now looking forward to progressing with my learning by entering a Level 3 in Sports Turf. This course will help me understand how to maintain a golf course to a championship standard as is at Hanbury Manor.
