Our mentors are all highly experienced professionals with a wealth of industry knowledge and our ambassadors are currently working within hospitality, advocating the various roles available within their organisation and the industry in general. They can help you in a multitude of ways from supporting with interview skills and practice, discussing career paths and nurturing skills through to offering work placements and helping you to see your strengths and build your confidence. The GEMS programme has been increasingly successful since 2009 in offering a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to become inspired, learn employability skills and get the experience and guidance needed to develop their career. Our Mentors are experts in their specialisms and can provide their Mentees with valuable insights into the Hospitality industry as well as the routes available to them. Mentors hold senior positions in the industry for more than five years. All specialisms in the sector are welcomed.
To be accepted onto the scheme, students must be in their second year or above and will follow a process of shortlisting to ensure they display maturity, dedication and enthusiasm for the scheme and, most importantly, the Hospitality Industry. Once they are successfully selected, they undertake a Mentee briefing session conducted by Springboard.
Mentors involved in the scheme find it a very enriching experience with numerous benefits including:
